Mike Hertz practices in Woods Rogers’ Corporate and Business Law and Intellectual Property sections, focusing his practice on startups, and both closely held and public companies. His experience includes merger and acquisition and contract drafting and review for companies in high-tech and other industries. He files and prosecutes state and federal trademark applications and copyright applications. In that role, he has represented clients in administrative proceedings in federal and state court as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mike is regularly ranked as a go-to attorney for Intellectual Property matters by Virginia Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers as well as Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite list. Mike earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from Wake Forest University. While in law school, Mike served as an editor of the Wake Forest Law Review.
Nathan Evans, Principal, Woods Rogers
Nathan Evans is a United States Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”) registered patent attorney with over 20 years of experience in patent prosecution and litigation. He is the Chair of the Virginia Bar Association Intellectual Property/Information Technology Council, and was named by his peers as a “Legal Elite” in Virginia Business Magazine in 2019 and 2020. Nathan has co-chaired an American Bar Association subcommittee on changes to Indian patent law, and he also acted as a co-chair of a subcommittee of the Patent System Policy Planning Division Committee. He is a partner at Woods Rogers PLC where he counsels clients in several areas of technology. His experience includes matters before state and federal district courts, the USPTO (including the Patent Trial and Appeal Board), the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Nathan speaks frequently on topics related to intellectual property law and legal developments in the intellectual property industry. Nathan holds a J.D. from Emory University School of Law, and is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and before the USPTO.
