Biography

Aaron Miller is the Director of the International Business Development program at the Virginia Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) at George Mason University. In this role, Aaron and his team work with small businesses to help them increase sales through exports, access capital and financing, comply with U.S. regulations, and build or augment export competencies. As Director, Aaron also leads an interdisciplinary team of undergraduate and graduate students at Mason who provide customized research for Virginia firms. Students under his leadership have gone on to careers at the World Bank, government, venture capital and private equity, consulting firms and small businesses, as well as top 25 law and business schools.
The Virginia SBDC International Business Development program is recognized by NASBITE as an Accredited Training Center for the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) certification. Aaron and his team have delivered variations of the curriculum for small businesses, trade professionals, local economic development organizations, and universities including George Mason University and the George Washington University Center for International Business Education Research.
From 2016-2019 Aaron served as the Vice Chairman of the Virginia/DC District Export Council. During this time, he oversaw training programs and partnerships that increased DEC financial holdings by more than 700%. In addition, he led new DEC member recruitment efforts in 2017 and 2019 that boosted women and minority representation from just over 10% to nearly 40% of DEC membership.
Currently, Aaron serves as the National Co-Chair for the America’s SBDC International Interest Section where he plays a key role in coordinating the roll out of new trade policy and programs affecting the small business community. He also sits on the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s Virginia Advisory Committee where he works to educate and engage policymakers and community leaders on why investments in development and diplomacy help keep America safe and strengthen Virginia’s economy. Aaron is passionate about creating positive social change and serves as one of George Mason University’s designated Ashoka Changemaker campus leaders with the mission to make social innovation and Changemaking the new norm in higher education. He served as the Director of the Master’s Degree in Social Entrepreneurship at George Mason from 2015-2017.
He was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio.
