Facts & Snacks: Estate and Business Planning for Farmers

April 9 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Facts & Snacks is excited to bring our first agriculture focused event in partnership with David Wise, Culpeper Farm Bureau. If multigenerational success is your goal, this presentation is for you. The workshop will provide information and guidance on the decisions you can make today to help you plan and achieve financial and personal goals for the future of your farm. During the workshop, we’ll detail essential provisions you need to include in your documents to accomplish your objectives during your lifetime, when disabled, and upon your death. You will learn probate avoidance, cost-saving, conflict-reduction, and privacy-enhancing techniques.  You will also learn about strategies for wealth transfer and preservation strategies, income protection, farm business planning, and human incapacity planning.
Don’t wait to begin planning for the future generation! The USDA estimates that 70% of U.S. farmland will change hands in the next twenty years. If a farm or ranch family business has not adequately planned for changes in ownership, it is more likely to go out of business, be absorbed into ever-larger farming neighbors, or be converted to non-farm uses. Planning for a smooth ownership transition and preparing the next generation to lead is tough.
