SUMMARY:Basics of Financial Literacy for Boards
DESCRIPTION:One of the foremost responsibilities of a nonprofit organization is financial management and oversight. Active oversight is essential to ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability\, as well as proper stewardship of the organization’s assets and resources. This important duty of financial oversight encompasses an array of responsibilities and requires a foundation in financial literacy.\nJoin consultant Elizabeth Turrisi for this interactive workshop to develop a better understanding of financial terminology\, financial statements\, and how financial statements tell a story about an organization. \nThis session is designed for board members who require a basic understanding of finances to inform their strategic thinking. We ask that all groups bring financial statements from their home organizations to use in the activities\, including an income statement\, balance sheet\, and (if available) a statement of cash flow and a statement of functional expense. (This information will not be shared.) \n***This session is not intended to help you build these statements.***

SUMMARY:Contracting: Preparing a Powerful Capabilities Statement
