DESCRIPTION:Virginia early-stage innovative entrepreneurs:  Charlottesville Angel Network (CAN) and Virginia Small Business Development Center (VSBDC) have joined forces to help you polish your pitch presentation.\nCAN and VSBDC are offering four pitch practice opportunities in 2024\, with accredited angel investors in attendance. There is no cost to participate and presenter(s) will leave with actionable feedback from these angel investors. \nThree applicants will be selected for each Pitch Preview event\, held the first Thursday of the selected months\, between 12:00-2:00 pm. Attendees commit to thirty minute time slots consisting of: 5 minutes to join and meet angels\, 15 minutes to pitch\, and 10 minutes for feedback. Events will be held virtually over Zoom\, hosted by Central Virginia SBDC. \n**This is not an application for funding or a formal presentation to request investment.** \nFor more detailed qualification information and to apply\, please read\, and if eligible\, submit an application for consideration in the program. SUMMARY:Grant Funding for Technology Development & Commercialization Info Sessions
DESCRIPTION:This in person session will provide an overview of grant funding for Virginia based companies and researchers who are developing early-stage technology. Featured will be discussions about the federal Small Business Innovation Research grant programs\, also known as SBIR (11 agencies award over $4B annually in $200K-$2M grants)\, and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Commonwealth Commercialization Fund ($75K grants for small business and higher education technology development/commercialization). \nEach session will be approximately 2 hours long and include coffee/bagels/pastries for the morning sessions and a light lunch for the lunch sessions. We’ll also have time to hear updates from the local ecosystem and our event hosts! Sessions are free\, but advance registration is requested. \nIf you are thinking about developing new\, innovative technology and/or you are currently in the process of doing so and you are seeking funding to finance the development\, this session is for you! Entrepreneurs and small business owners in Charlottesville and Albemarle can apply to participate in the 8-week program which includes business training sessions (Business Essentials Training)\, access to industry research\, business operation tools\, and one-on-one business advising offered by Central Virginia Small Business Development Center.
